The absolute wonder that is rugby was in plain view in Sydney's city centre today and continues tonight. This wasn't the Super 14, this wasn't the Tri Nations, Pacific Nations or even the Shute Shield competition.
This was rugby at work at its best. We here at heavensgame are fortunate that by the nature of our work we get to meet, intearct or chat with rugby lovers the world over on a daily basis. Today was a typical day in many respects starting with a few email conversations at 5am with the US, Canada, South Africa and a few other places. Lunch was more than pleasant being spent with a well respected member of the Chilean rugby community who is currently residing here in Sydney and then the evening has been rounded out nicely with some European interaction (not of the adult variety) and without doubt the highlight of the day. What was the highlight? 118 photos of the golden oldies tournament held on Eastwood's TG Milner field that the writer particpated in as part of the phenomenon that is www.newportnasties.com When you see these photos of the day you will truly understand the value of our game, overweight, unfit men running around a pitch.... Friendships, rivalries and business connections being made. Rugby folklore gaining momentum by the minute. That is what rugby is all about. |
