IRB JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DAY TWO ROUNDUP Print E-mail

New Zealand, Argentina, South Africa, Samoa, Australia, England, Wales and France all enjoyed victories on the second day of pool matches on Tuesday to remain unbeaten at the IRB Junior World Championship 2008.

In Pool A, Argentina battled past Tonga 30-10 at Cardiff Arms Park before New Zealand overpowered Ireland 65-10. South Africa were equally impressive beating Scotland 72-3 to top Pool C from Samoa, the 20-6 conquerors of USA.

Australia and England both have the maximum 10 points in Pool C after overcoming Fiji 53-17 and Canada 60-18 respectively in Newport. The same is true for Wales and France in Pool D, the host nation having beaten Japan 33-10 after France defeated Italy 32-14 in Swansea.

The next matches take place on Saturday, June 14 when the pool stages reach their conclusion as New Zealand face Argentina and Ireland meet Tonga in Pool A at Cardiff Arms Park, Samoa tackle South Africa and USA face Scotland in Pool B at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, England meet Australia while Canada face Fiji in Pool C at Newport's Rodney Parade, while France tackle hosts Wales and Italy meet Japan in Pool D at Liberty Stadium in Swansea.

The four Pool winners will then progress to the semi-finals on Wednesday, June 18 with the other teams playing off for the other placing from fifth to 16th on the two remaining match days.
