Sydney will have the opportunity to see Wallabies stars of the future as the Ford Australian Under 20s play Fiji on Sunday as part of their preparations for the inaugural IRB Junior World Championship due to begin early next month.
The match will be played at Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union’s Woollahra Oval and will see the Australian squad have their only international hit-out before they depart for Wales. A number of Super 14 players – including Western Force duo Sam Wykes and Dane Haylett-Petty, Waratah Dan Palmer and Queensland Red Ben Daley – and several former Australian Schoolboys and Under 19s players will be on show against the Fijians. Waratahs’ Kurtley Beale and Rob Horne are both unavailable due to the Investec Super 14 semi final while Queensland Reds Quade Cooper, Blair Connor and Will Genia and the Force’s David Pocock will be rested by coach Brian Melrose. The Australians have been drawn in Pool C with England, Fiji and Canada and begin their world championship campaign against the North Americans on June 6.
