Resurgent winger Caleb Brown will make his first run-on appearance for the QR Reds in a year after a training injury forced a change to the side to play the Blues in a trial match at Ballymore tomorrow night (kickoff 7pm).

Brown spent last season on the sidelines with persistent hamstring troubles but proved his fitness with a rousing performance off the bench in last Saturday’s trial match in Sydney and comes into the starting side for Brando Va’aulu, who suffered a corked thigh in a training mishap yesterday.

Va’aulu collided with fellow wing Henari Veratau when both went for a high ball. Veratau will now take Brown’s place on the bench.

QR Reds Head Coach Phil Mooney has named a strong side for the match, which marks the return to action of Queensland's eight World Cup Wallabies, including fullback Chris Latham and flyhalf Berrick Barnes.

The Ballymore match against the Blues is the second of three trial matches for the QR Reds ahead of their first Investec Super 14 match at Suncorp Stadium on February 15.

Scrumhalf Sam Cordingley has been named captain for the evening in the absence of John Roe, given another week's break after an off-season shoulder reconstruction.

The QR Reds' final trial is against the Western Force in Perth on February 7, before their first round Super 14 match against the Highlanders at Suncorp Stadium on February 15.
