For their fourth match in National one this season, which will be their second away game of the campaign, the Cornish Pirates will literally make a flying visit to Otley this Saturday, departing Cornwall from Newquay to travel to Leeds-Bradford airport, and then Otley by bus.
The home team, who have made a swift return to National One after having been relegated at the end of the 2006-07 season, will be desperate for win at their Cross Green ground. Their record of three losses to date will give them extra incentive, whilst the Pirates, who have won just one game, will also feel a need to come away from Yorkshire with league points in the bag. During the second half of their game with Exeter, the Pirates showed what they are capable of, and will need to reproduce much of the same for a full 80 minutes on Saturday. They will also, of course, know that nothing can be taken for granted, remembering that they lost 23-19 when last playing Otley away in November, 2006. With certain players gaining valuable game time and others returning from injury in the Super Cup match played against the Cornish All Blacks on Monday evening, selection is likely to made more interesting, with competition for places seemingly about to be raised. The kick-off at Cross Green on Saturday is at 3pm. |
