CHICAGO – The USA Rugby Team’s Head Coach Scott Johnson has officially announced his reserves for the Eagles final match in the Barclays Churchill Cup tournament against Canada on Saturday, June 21 at 4:25 p.m. at Toyota Park.
“I needed to watch these guys a bit more,” Johnson said. “Since this is a full test match, it was really important to look at their depth and how they fit into different positions. I’m balancing the fact that I still want to see what players can do and where they fit the best, with the fact that it is a test match and I want to see the best team out on the field.” Mone Laulaupeaalu is named as a reserve hooker, while Chad Slaby will fill the prop role on the reserves. Brian Doyle will most likely earn his first cap wearing the jersey #17, while Henry Bloomfield may come on as a No. 8. There’s no surprise that Robbie Shaw and Nese Malifa are both named as scrumhalf and flyhalf reserves, and Albert Tuipulotu has earned the other back line reserve position. The game will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports in the USA, and there will be a live audio broadcast of the game available for free on the rugbycanada.ca, usarugby.org and barclayschurchillcuprugby.com websites.
