A relatively quiet schedule of rugby this weekend means many players and supporters will get a break before things hot up with full dance cards for all teams as pool play and playoffs come to a head in the ensuing weeks.

This Friday sees just three fixtures with Kuwait, Dubai and Jordan’s Amman seeing the only sanctioned rugby in the region. The Dubai Hurricanes will take on the Kuwait Nomads and a bonus point win would see the ‘Canes leapfrog second placed Abu Dhabi and join top placed Dubai Exiles with 24 points at the head of the leader board. Kuwait are currently without a win in the league and sit firmly in bottom place but beware a Fiji dominated team if they get their share of position.

In the UAE based Emirates League the flair of the Dubai French Frogs take on a wiry experienced Dubai Exiles II in an interesting encounter. Both teams have been consistent performers this season and sit nicely placed in the league standings with the competition at the halfway stage.

In Amman the Mashreq League will be hoping to stage its scheduled clash between Jordan Rugby and the Beirut Phoenicians after snow caused the postponement of matches late last month. In attendance in the Jordan capital will be AGRFU Development staff Ghaith Jalagel and Bruce Morton who along with IRB Development Manager for Asia; Jarrad Gallagher have been conducting coaching courses in the area.
